Case-sensitive MediaWiki
I just finished setting up a MediaWiki for WorldIRC. Page titles and user names should be fully case-sensitive (i.e., able to start with a lowercase letter). Unfortunately, MediaWiki doesn’t really support that out of the box. Googling didn’t yield any usable results. Finally, asking in the IRC channels got me on the right track: In your LocalSettings.php, add at the end:
$wgCapitalLinks = false;
To get case-sensitive usernames, but still allow case-insensitive logins, you need to patch the code.
Here’s my patch against the current stable 1.6 version (r14760):

Prayer vigil targets Devil’s Day
The “Ambassadors Ministries”, a Dutch evangelical organisation, have started an initiative to hold “a violent day of worship” to counteract the forces of evil. The over 2000 Christians in the Netherlands will be joined people in 23 further countries.
The funny thing is – if nothing spectacular happens on this day, as one would expect, they can claim their little conjuration worked. Just like other religious groups will no doubt use any event happening today to further their own agenda.

Blind Date: “C.R.A.Z.Y.”
Heute lief C.R.A.Z.Y.. Über zwei Stunden Film ohne nennenswerte Handlung, Sinn oder Verstand. Ausgedehnte Vergangenheitsbewältigung, aber nicht ansehenswert. Wenn ihr den Film unbedingt sehen wollt: schaut stattdessen den Trailer.
Das war jetzt der dritte (vierte, wenn man “Meine, Deine & Unsere” mitzählt) schlechte Film in Folge im Blind Date.
