Das Rechenkunststück der Volkswirte bestand darin, die Schulden immer nur in Prozent des BIP zu messen. Was in keiner Unternehmensbilanz zulässig ist, nämlich eine Fließgröße (das BIP) in Relation zu einer Fixgröße (die Staatsschulden) zu rechnen, ist in der VWL Standard.
